In November 2001, the California Acupuncture and Moxibustion Board approved the Master of Chinese Medicine program of the International Medical University, and students who have obtained this master’s degree can take the California acupuncture and Moxibustion licensing examination.

In the same year, President Wang Yingqiu and the school Board decided to formally submit an application for accreditation to the National Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Education (ACAOM). It received preliminary certification in June 2003 and official certification in June 2005. At this point, the International Medical University has become a higher Chinese medicine education institution officially accredited by the United States Department of Education.

In October 2005, authorized by the U.S. Department of Education, students admitted to the International Medical University have the right to apply for the U.S. federal Government financial aid.
