In 1992, Blenda Wilson became the first black female principal in the United States. In 1994, Northridge was hit by a 6.4 magnitude earthquake that severely damaged the campus. In 1995, President Clinton visited the school one year after the earthquake. In 2001, the school’s men’s basketball team became a dark horse, reaching the NCAA Basketball National Top 64 for the first time. In 2003, the football team disbanded.
